Winter Wind Buttons

Each button is 1 1/8" in diameter.

These ceramic buttons were created by imprinting white slabs of clay with stamp patterns. The clay was then cut into the shapes, holes were pierced, edges were cleaned and trimmed before left to dry. While still greenware (unfired clay) the buttons were glazed with a blue green color to accentuate the feeling of a winter wind. Each button was glazed 3 times before being bisque fired in a kiln. Once the buttons were bisque fired, the top of the buttons were glazed three times with a clear cover coat glaze before going into a final glaze fire in the kiln. The backs are a natural, blue green velvet underglaze finish.
