These handmade ceramic buttons are made by rolling out slabs of clay, cutting the shapes, and then painting the designs. When they become leather hard, I add carved lines and textures and then I clean the edges and put the holes in them. When they are bone dry, I fire them in a bisque fire at cone 04. Next, I glaze them with a clear glaze and fire them again at cone 6. By firing the stoneware clay to cone 6, the clay is vitrified which makes them strong, and makes the glaze colors vibrant and rich. These buttons are great for knitting, crocheting, or sewing. The perfect accent or embellishment for a bag, hat, or cardigan.
