These handmade ceramic buttons are made by rolling out slabs of clay and using a handmade stamps and clay tools to press the designs into the clay. Then I cut out the desired button shape around the stamped images. When they become leather hard, I clean the edges and put the holes in them. When they are bone dry, I fire them in a bisque fire at cone 04. Then I glaze them with a 2-3 layers of mid-range glaze and fire them again at cone 6. This process vitrifies the clay, which makes them strong, and makes the glaze colors vibrant and rich. These buttons are great for knitting, crocheting, or sewing. The perfect accent or embellishment for a bag, hat, or cardigan.
