Black and White Sgraffito Flower Design Small Tumbler

This piece was thrown on a wheel using a white stoneware clay. Next it was glazed with a black underglaze and then, using the sgraffito technique, the design was carved from the glazed surface while the tumbler was still leather hard. Once the tumbler was bone dry, it was then fired in a bisque fire to cone 04. Finally, I applied a clear glaze to the sgraffito areas and then I glazed the rest of the tumbler with an Obsidian celadon glaze before it was fired in a cone 6 glaze fire.
