3 Light Green with Ferns Speckled Porcelain Buttons

These handmade porcelain buttons are made by rolling out a slab of pink speckled porcelain clay. Then, I cut the clay into the button shapes. When the shapes become leather hard, I clean the edges and put the holes in them. When they are bone dry, I fire them in a bisque fire at cone 04. Next, I glaze them with a 2-3 layers of mid-range clear glaze and fire them again at cone 6. By firing the porcelain clay to cone 6, the clay is vitrified which makes the buttons strong. The color you see is from the color of the clay. These buttons are great for knitting, crocheting, or sewing. The perfect accent or embellishment for a bag, hat, or cardigan.
