These heart buttons are created by rolling a texture into my clay and then cutting the shape. Once they are leather hard, I make the button holes and clean up the edges. They are fired in a bisque kiln at cone 04 and then they are painted with several coats of celadon glaze on the top and the sides. I paint several coats of underglaze on the backs to make sure the backs are nice and smooth. The final step is the glaze firing at cone 6.
While handmade ceramic buttons are durable, I recommend hand washing all handmade items to make sure they are getting the best care for a long life.
These buttons measure 1 1/4" wide x 1 1/4" long.
I sell them as 1 button on a card.
