This sgraffito pot was thrown on a wheel using a white stoneware clay. Next it was glazed with a black underglaze and then, using the sgraffito technique, the design was carved from the glazed surface while the pot was still leather hard. Once the pot was bone dry, it was then fired in a bisque fire to cone 04. Finally, I applied a clear glaze to the sgraffito areas and then I glazed the rest of the pot with a colored celadon glaze before it was fired in a cone 6 glaze fire.
