Graphic Black and White Sgraffito Planter with Attached Saucer and Warm Orange Interior

This sgraffito planter was thrown on a wheel using a white stoneware clay. Next it was glazed with a black underglaze and then, using the sgraffito technique, the design was carved from the glazed surface while the planter was still leather hard. Once the planter was bone dry, it was then fired in a bisque fire to cone 04. Finally, I applied a clear glaze to the sgraffito areas and then I glazed the rest of the planter with a colored celadon glaze before it was fired in a cone 6 glaze fire.
