When they become leather hard, I clean the edges, add details with carving tools and finally, I put the holes in them. Then, while they are still leather hard, I paint them with underglazes and fire them in a bisque fire at cone 04. Next, I glaze them with a clear glaze and fire them again at cone 6. This process vitrifies the clay, which makes them strong, and makes the glaze colors vibrant and rich.
