Next it was glazed with a black underglaze and then, using the sgraffito technique, the design was carved from the glazed surface while the vase was still leather hard. Once the vase was bone dry, it was then fired in a bisque fire to cone 04. I glazed the blue berries and leaves using a satin matte glaze. I then waxed over that glazed area. Finally, I applied a clear glaze to the sgraffito areas and cleaned up any glaze on the waxed areas.
