This ornament was created by creating a white slab of clay that was cut into the desired shape, a wire for hanging was inserted, edges were cleaned and trimmed before left to dry. While still greenware (unfired clay) the ornament was glazed with underglaze and a sgraffito tool was used to scratch the surface to reveal the first layers of color. Each color on the ornament was glazed 3 times for rich color before being bisque fired in a kiln. Once the ornament was bisque fired, it was glazed three times with a clear cover coat glaze before going into a final glaze fire in the kiln.
This scraffito ceramic ornament will be a great ornament to add to your collection!
