These ornaments were created by imprinting white slabs of clay with a stamp. The clay was then cut into the shapes, a wire for hanging was inserted, edges were cleaned and trimmed before left to dry. While still greenware (unfired clay) the ornaments were glazed with a black underglaze. Each ornament was glazed 3 times and the glaze was wiped off of the raised areas to let the stoneware color show through and red berries and green leaves were painted before being bisque fired in a kiln. Once the ornaments were bisque fired, they were glazed three times with a clear cover coat glaze before going into a final glaze fire in the kiln.
